Coronavirus COVID-19 Announcement
Dear Members,
The health and safety of our volunteers, members and patrons is a priority for the Rhyll-Phillip Island Angling Club (RPIAC). Considering the global spread, infectious nature and rising number of Victorians who have confirmed cases of coronavirus COVID-19, I believe the RPIAC has a responsibility to act quickly and take steps to mitigate risks. Accordingly, I have discussed various aspects and control measures, required to keep the club operating as usual, with the committee. We have considered both the benefits and risks of club gatherings to our community.
If a single sufferer of COVID-19 entered the RPIAC premises, the outcome could cause permanent damage to the health of those most vulnerable. With this in mind, I believe that closing the RPIAC clubroom is the best thing to do and, as such, the clubrooms will be closed this Friday the 20th of March and will remain closed until further notice. Further, the RPIAC Getaway to Lakes Entrance (3rd-5th April) has been cancelled as an official RPIAC event. Of course, if members still wish to travel to Lakes Entrance they do so at their own will and must cater for themselves.
With respect to the AFL Footy Tipping, it appears that Round 1 will go ahead, starting Thursday 19th of March. To those of you who have elected to participate, please submit tips to Dave Fusinato by text message (0438 595 636) or by email to: rpiactipping@gmail.com
We will endeavour to keep you informed of any changes to RPIAC events as information concerning COVID-19 becomes available.
The RPIAC wants to support our members and we offer assistance to those confronted with difficulties.
My sincere apologies to those of you who are inconvenienced and my thanks to all who support this decision.
Albert Abram
President – Rhyll-Phillip Island Angling Club
